Dear Friend,
It is my privilege to welcome you to the Brunswick Street Baptist Church web site. We are located in the downtown core of the beautiful city of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. We are a diverse and active Church and as a fellowship of believers, we have sought to worship God and share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ since 1814. God has blessed us and we have ample testimony to His faithfulness.
In the past the Holy Spirit has brought us revival, enabled us to be pioneers in missions and be innovative in Christian education.
In 1836 the Baptist Seminary was established next to the Church building to provide the first secondary level education for both sexes, and to people of all faiths, in Canada.
The Rev. and Mrs. Richard Burpee were the first protestant missionaries from Canada. They were sent out in 1845 to serve in Burma.
Our introduction of simultaneous worship services which began in 2003 allows us to express our worship to God in different ways. In 2009 we completed a 30,000 square foot, three storey Family Life Center. This expansion has enabled us to reach even more for Jesus Christ. Our history has been a contribution to God's work in the Maritimes, Canada, and the world for which we praise Him. We are part of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches and are proud to support our Canadian Baptist Ministries.
While we thank God for our history, we are here to serve Him in the present. We believe that 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever' [Hebrews 13.8]Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV) .
