On Wednesday July 5th, come to the church from 7-9pm for an evening of water games. As usual during our second week of Summer Youth Group, we will be playing some water balloon volleyball.
Make sure to bring a large beach towel and dry clothes. Hope to see you there.
On Wednesday June 28th, come out to the Ashfields home (4 Cameron Court) from 7-9pm for our summer kickoff BBQ. There will be lots of food and games. Youth going into grade 6 in the fall are invited to come as well. Hope to see you there
It is that time of year again. Summer is coming and our plans for the summer are now published. You can either pick up a printed copy of our summer schedule or download it here and print it yourself. Remember, during Summer Youth Groups, those teens moving up from grade 5-6 are invited to start attending youth groups.
Each year our teens fund raise to meet the needs of people who live in need throughout the world and, at the same time, our teens get a taste of what it means to live without. This year, our youth groups are going 24 hours unplugged … no cell phones, video games, light bulbs, stoves, etc. Instead, our teens are going to be meeting at the church for a night of tenting and heading back to the simpler methods of living (note: there will still be regular toilets) and preparing their meals without all of the usual conveniences that their families normally have.
WHERE: At Brunswick Street Baptist Church. Teens are invited to meet on the youth floor of the church after school.
WHEN: This year, we are doing the 24 Hour Blackout Friday, April 28th at Noon and finishing on Saturday, the 29th at Noon pm. Note: The doors of the church will be open at 3:00pm on Friday.
WHAT: What is Kamp Tumaini? It is our Canadian Baptist Ministries Camp in Kenya that is run to work with children who have AIDS or who have been affected by AIDS.
COST: Although there is no cost for the event, itself, we are asking teens to fundraise $30 each to help support the sending a child to Kamp Tumaini. Each $30 that we fundraise sends one child to camp for 5 days. That means that for every student who participates in our 24 Hour Blackout, at least one young person in Kenya gets to attend Kamp Tumaini.
HOW CAN PEOPLE SUPPORT THE 24 HOUR BLACKOUT? Financial support is being raised by our teens. You can either donate directly to them or track down Pastor Jodie and he will add your donation to one of the teen’s fundraising.
THINGS FOR TEENS TO BRING: Bring a tent, a sleeping bag/pillow, your favorite board games, and your forms/money raised.
IS THERE ANY FUN PLANNED?: Yes!!! We will have NON-POWERED challenges that will have prizes for the best. We will also be playing glow-in-the dark games and we will have a number of other activities & competitions lined up.
Teens … see Pastor Jodie if you need forms to be involved.
Matthew 25:40 reminds us that as we love others in this world, we show love to God. Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
With the cancellation of school today, Wednesday, March 15th, we will be cancelling Youth Alpha for tonight. Instead, we will begin next week with the Youth Alpha Kickoff. That means there is no Youth Bible Study or Youth Alpha for tonight. Other programs are still on.
If you check under the files section, you will find the full year Youth Group Schedule that we handed out at last week’s youth group kickoff.
Each Wednesday from 6:30-8:00pm Cross-Training, our youth discipleship, takes place on the youth floor of the church. Once again, this year, Middle School and Senior High Youth meet separately with their own groups and topics. Middle School will meet in the red board room on the youth floor. Senior High will meet in the main area on the youth floor of the Family Life Centre.
